Fairy Deer - Where Do You Live?
By Diana Rickett of D & G Home Business Partners
Have you seen a Fairy Deer? They are so small they should still be with their mamas, and if we looked hard enough Mama is probably nearby. They are truly knee high to a grasshopper it seems. I have come across them twice, both times driving the school bus. Its like they are there and then as a dream, gone again. The last time the little one pushed out the long window in my door with such a shuddering force. I do not know if he could have lived through the collision with his sister standing by the road looking on. What possesses them to jump at a huge monstrosity of a bus, no one has the answer. This is one good reason to have the grass mowed along the road and railroad tracks. The first time I bumped into a Fairy Deer they seemed like a herd of butterflies, bouncing in front of my eyes with a bump into one. I slowed down and found no traces of the deer. They are truly mystical when so small, seems like they are just a magical being from the tales of fairies. The experience of meeting a Fairy Deer is eerily mysterious especially in the wee early morning when you are not sure you seen them to start with. I would rather see them from far away or on a movie screen. They will always be Bambi and Faline to me. I do not want to mow them down with my bus, as I do not want to harm natures own. Seeing them standing in the grass, in narrow dirt roads, present us with a real time road hazard, although they are just experiencing life in the real world not expecting to mess up our day. The marvels of nature in the very young or very small keep us respecting the being that is in charge of letting us share the planet with them.
